After a lifetime of trying every ‘quick-fix’ that never works, my one goal is the Peace that passeth my understanding- which should be our first priority. But hey! we’re human. Russell Simmons says in Super Rich that “needing nothing attracts everything”. When you have a personal relationship with the Love within -God by whatever name & of your own understanding -it doesn’t matter what happens. De-tachment doesn’t mean you don’t own anything or wouldn’t enjoy a mutually respectful, supportive & empowering romantic relationship – it means nothing owns you. This is how I want to feel all the time. Free from old baggage. So as I prepare for walking the Camino, my intention is Surrender. This has initially & acutely surfaced in the continued letting go of leftover attachment to the body as any imagined source of true intimacy or power. Buy a big bag of spinach, stuff in your mouth along with abundant french fries & baguettes, it last for days in your backpack. BE in your body…. Rest When Tired…Stay at the pensione 2-3 days…so what if walking the Camino takes your whole 90 day visit (that’s right, America)  Forgive all quick friends who just love you one day & don’t the next…they don’t speak my language here either. In 1984, a therapist asked me, ‘HOW DO YOU FEEL?’ I had no idea. After what seems like weeks talking, I asked ‘What’s the box of Kleenex for?’ His reply, ‘Sometimes people cry.’ I laughed.

Unable to own our own dark side, depression & depletion there is no harder self-judgment we then project onto others. Not uncommon for most, we over-think. Chronic, often unconscious patterns of muscle tension that block emotion develop early on in response to life-stresses. As adults, old embodied attitudes harbored like ‘PLEASE ME’ ‘BE PERFECT’ ‘HURRY UP’ ‘KEEP A STIFF UPPER LIP’ & ‘ BE SEEN, NOT HEARD’ -literally in our DNA- drive us through life on auto-pilot.

Nearly everyday we can get stressed-out from faulty beliefs we suffer from the actions of others or situations we face – & our body tells the story. Counter-productive thoughts send powerful, emotional energetic-stress-messages to your body – & others.                                   This helps explain how we attract who we are, not what we want. And nothing less than a Power greater than our own can heal these subconscious tensions really running the show.

And if we’re feeling it NOW, we’re not ‘re-hashing the past’ –                   a common deflect maneuver for further personal growth                             – especially by those of us who have done some.

An overactive mind mask feelings. Rather than deny, disown & disregard how you feel – your direct link to Divine Guidance – put those ‘triggers’ to good use! The Light does not go to the darkness.  No matter how long on the path – at some point, we must bring our darkness into the Light to be healed – the humbling experience we all avoid.  Wholeness always honors both.

About the same time, I started self-study in the modern spiritual classic, A Course in Miracles. The Course metaphysical thought system has helped millions find freedom from fear to Love through forgiveness.Course core concepts – such as everything we feel & what we experience is created by our own thinking – connected the dots for me between my body, thoughts, feelings & life. Healing happens in the mind – but the mind informs the body. Our thoughts create an emotion – & we are always choosing. How You Feel becomes your gauge if you need a fresh perspective.The 2 ‘inner image consultants’….                                                             You have 2 ways to see life: fear & Love. Fear = Stress that drives aging, pain & weight gain. LOVE = Inner Peace that heals your health & appearance, as well as relationships.

 

The quick-fix to fear is an action step. A shift in perception is a powerful action step -it will shift your behavior.

FEAR HAS MANY FACES…                                                                                                Stress is a term which refers to a perceived threat. All stress is linked to the idea we need ‘HANG ON’ to anything or anyone to complete us.

Vast amounts of time. money & energy are wasted on the chaos & drama created by an unforgiving spirit directed at ourself & others.

Putting Self-care on the back burner repeatedly for something ‘more important to do’ – most of the time it’s not even our job. Confused about what is truly helpful – our addiction to approval & appreciation, need to fix, please, control, rescue & be rescued robs us of our ‘ME TIME’ & others of ever finding the Power to stand on their own two feet.

Our level of Self-care is a powerful cue to ourself & others about who we believe we are and what we can do. Self-care puts the focus where the Power is to transform your body & life – within. We need to lift our deserve level.

Forgiveness is the highest level of Self-care we can perform – shifting how WE think & feel – to ‘LET GO’. Nothing is so potent, so powerful, or so dramatically impacts our health, appearance & relationships as to forgive ….& be forgiven.

If we are totally honest with ourself, our expectations & attachments to the people, places & things we make our Higher Power are as potent a prop as any other drug of choice. We set up people – & the problem – then we try to solve it. Fear has many faces -I should know.

What we really seek is the Love inside -& everything we ‘do’ is designed to get the feeling. We will be in endless discontent until we nurture a personal relationship to God – by whatever name & of your own understanding – that never fails to satisfy, never guilts, leaves, says there’s too much water under the bridge, judges our journey – or anyone else’s. YOU are the 1 common denominator in the ever-shifting situations & circumstances in the game of your life.

The Secret Now Is Surrender……                                                                                                   I’ve created the money as a single mom doing what I love when I didn’t know where my next dime was coming from, the worldwide travel, ‘princes, palaces, & parking spots’. Fairy tales may be fun, but none of them ever brought me the Peace of God.

We’ve all heard the ‘positive thinking’ mantra & tried willpower for years with less than stellar results. No amount of positive thought tricks, reading, analyzing, academia or group-share substitutes for conscious contact with God. We are told all we need to know to prepare us for the future when it arrives…if we will Listen – the hardest spiritual practice.

Love is a felt experience, not an intellectual pursuit. Like a warm energetic shower you can feel, BREATH connects the mind into the muscle system to activate your body’s natural self-healing process. Real change starts with owning how what-you’re-thinking-makes-you-feel in your body. Holy means whole.

The work is always inside – the point of tension, anxiety, stress & relationships right under our nose in busy  life. I need only look at the woman in the mirror like any good Therapist would direct you to do. Taking responsibility for the mirror image is your greatest opportunity. It doesn’t take time or money – it takes courage.
